I am impressed to see her pounding the pavement to win her election while also working hard to elect progressive candidates up and down the ballot.
I moved to Arizona shortly before the 2020 election. Upon arriving in Tucson, I started researching the candidates that would be on my ballot โ and Stephanie Stahl Hamilton, who at the time was running for LD10 State Representative, immediately stood out to me. She stood for issues that mattered to me: fighting for strong K-12 education, affordable healthcare, environmental protection, climate action, and accountability in government. Right away, I felt that she would be someone I could count on to represent me. We are aligned on policy, and she is driven by a mindset of inclusion, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.
Senator Stahl Hamilton cares about her constituents’ concerns and goes above and beyond to make connections, listen, and strategize.
She is self-aware and conscientious of what it means to hold a position of power โ she uses her role effectively. She’ll grab the megaphone when it’s needed, but she’ll also scan the space she’s in before doing so to see if there’s another less-often-heard voice that should be amplified instead of or in addition to hers.
She has issue areas that she’s an expert in, such as funding for education. But as a legislator โ you don’t have the luxury of focusing only on a narrow set of priorities. When she’s been placed on committees on topics new to her, she’s had the humility and wisdom to reach out to colleagues and subject matter experts to build her knowledge and savvy.
I’ve had the privilege of watching Senator Stahl Hamilton in action and have been humbled by the support she so generously provided to me when she and I first connected. I was new in town, and she helped me connect with others, which ultimately opened up amazing opportunities for me. She’s a connector. I feel incredibly lucky that she represents me at the State Capitol.
